Cycle Fabric was kindly invited to participate in Grimshaw Architects ‘Green Office Week.’ On the 12th of May as part of their Act On Purchasing day the great team there set me up with a table and display and I got to chat about the recycled saddles and textiles I use. Green Office Week there involved n a whole week of activities over the afternoon tea break to encourage employees to be more conscious of the offices environmental impact. It went further than that even encouraging them to keep themselves healthy by trading apples for sweets, bringing in a hybrid car for people to see under the bonnet and even a drive to keep the office plant alive. It was lovely to be included in the event and should be interesting to see what ingenious things they come up with next year to inform their colleagues.

"However, the actions of some people riding bicycles were sometimes seen as negative, and the lycra-clad image of cyclists put some people off because they didn’t identify with it or thought it a turn-off."
Beware.
“This app shows the estimated percentage of hire bikes that are currently in use, across the world.” Check out the bike-o-meter.
Bikes + documentary + women rights is just too much goodness in one place.
This is an excerpt from the feature documentary “Victorian Cycles-Wheels of Change”, produced and directed by Jim Kellett.
Remember the modesty, ladies!
because one day you might find yourself with a bottle of wine and nothing but a bike pump to open it.
Few photos from our other favorite bricoleurbanism.org. This is from a whole set dedicated to goods delivery on bikes in China. The author writes:
“Despite dramatic decreases in the number of cyclists in Chinese cities over the past 15 to 20 years, transport of goods and products, informal collection of recycling, deliveries and use of bicycles for retail and selling is still very common.”
I find these guys too adorable.
Apparently, they are preventing other types of monkeys from running havoc in certain parts of New Delhi. More details at cyclelicio.us, which - by the way - is on my list of favorite bike-related blogs.
Couldn’t find a source or any credits for this photo and the work. But I think it’s quite awesome. have a great weekend!
