It was only a matter of time till some one tries this - social bicycles (got to say I prefer this to the name “SoBi”, a bit too close to sobbing that) is using the power of mobile internet/GPS to rent you a bike. Bikes will be traceable online, hence won’t really need biking stations, you can find the closest one using your mobile phone and pay for it online. And you can drop it...

Got to be Copenhagen. If you park illegally you get your bike re-parked, oiled and tyres pumped. More details here.

I found out today, via Velorution website, that UK Goverment offers a scheme for emplyers and employees to encourage cycling to work. Now London is far from being Copenhagen-level cycable, but at least there’s some effort made to maybe one day getting there.
